Youth Recreation Zone — Active Community
Moving into the youth game spaces, the design matures alongside the audience.
The color palette becomes deeper and more refined. Materials shift toward darker finishes, industrial lighting, and lounge-inspired environments. The atmosphere begins to feel more like a destination students would voluntarily choose to spend time in outside of church.
Pool tables, ping pong, lounge seating, and activity areas become anchors throughout the room. Instead of placing activities along walls, they are arranged to create movement and interaction patterns between students.
Active participation at gaming areas
Casual social interaction around seating
Observation and conversation spaces
Transitional gathering zones
This creates several layers of engagement:
The room intentionally creates multiple speeds of engagement. Students can jump into activity, watch friends, sit and talk, or simply exist comfortably within the environment.
The softer lighting helps create warmth and authenticity while reducing the harshness often associated with large youth spaces.
